A $500 grants was given to the society to help them purchase dehumidifiers
for the museum. The socieity is very active in fund raising to continue improvements
on their museum. In the year 2000 they had 1,366 registered visitors.

Donation Presented to Outlaw Trail Scenic Byway Fund
Mr. John Hoke presented the $100 check on behalf of the Goodwill Fund
to Scenic Byway representative, Heidi Phillips. This donation is to help fund
60,000 rack cards placed along Interstate 80 which promote the Highway 12
Byway.

The Goodwill Fund Board approved a $100 donation to the Chambers Chamber
of Commerce for their 4th of July Celebration. The money raised from
the 4th of July celebration has been used to host other events, build park
restrooms and start a picnic shelter.

A $100 donation was made to the Butte Golf Association
for their 4th of July Celebration.
$500 Donation to O'Neill Eagles Booster Club
Ellen Boshart, Treasurer of the Goodwill Fund presented
a $500 check to Val Nauenburg for the O’Neill Eagles Booster Club. The
donation will go to the athletic training equipment fund and will be used
to purchase new equipment and to refurbish the O’Neill High School weight
room. The weight room has six classes each day and is also open to the
public after school hours and during the summer.
Sturdevant Museum Receives $250
Donation

Goodwill Fund Treasurer. The donation will go to the museum fund to
aid in operating costs. The foundation is restoring an 1886 Victorian
style home in Atkinson using private funds and donations. They have
approximately 595 visitors annually from all over the USA and even a few foreign
visitors.
2000 DONATIONS
$150 Donation to 4-H Auction
A $150 donation was made to the 4-H Auction Committee to help defray the
cost of next year's advertising for with the livestock auction at the Holt
County Fair.
$500 Donation to the Holt County Historical Society
The Holt County Historical Society received a donation of $500 for the
purchase of a tape recorder, microphone, microphone stand and archival
storage supplies. The Holt County Historical Society is located in
the Kincaid Building in O'Neill. They have approximately 500 visitors a
year and maintain 3,000 - 4,000 family histories on file.
Holt County Shooting Sports Club Receive $200
A $200 donation was made to the Holt County Shooting Sports Club.
The donation will be used for the construction of a rifle range shelter.
The club currently has 96 member youths and is a nonprofit
4-H club. They teach firearm safety, sportsmanship and ethics.
They have 25 certified volunteer leaders and numerous parents involved.
The club's goal is to start hosting a state .22 rifle competition.
$100 Donation Made to the Naper Baseball Teams
The Naper Baseball Teams receive a donation of $100. With the three
age divisions of baseball teams, Wee-Wee, Pee-Wee and Midget, there are
30-35 kids participating in the program. The funds will be used for
uniforms, equipment and field maintenance. The Naper baseball program
strives to teach the fundamentals of baseball with good sportsmanship and
fun.
Spencer Save Our Pool Committee Awarded $500
A $500 donation was given to the Spencer Save Our Pool Committee. The funds
will go towards the renovation cost of the aging pool which was built in 1971.
The Spencer pool is a public pool and services over 100 families in the surrounding
area.
$100 Donated to the Chambers Chamber of Commerce
The Goodwill Fund Board approved a $100 donation to the Chambers Chamber
of Commerce for their 4th of July Celebration. The funding was used
for expenses for the tractor pull, advertising, insurance and fireworks.
The money raised from the 4th of July celebration has been used to host
other events, build park restrooms and start a picnic shelter.
Chambers Volunteer Fire Department Awarded $500
$500 was donated to the Chambers Volunteer Department for the purchase
of three sets of bunker gear for the firemen. The Chambers Volunteer
Fire Department answers approximately 40 calls per year servicing the surrounding
Chambers area.
$500 Donation Made to the Atkinson Fire and Rescue Unit
A $500 donation was made to the Atkinson Fire and Rescue Unit and will
go towards the purchase of emergency bar lights and siren for the new tanker
truck and scene and work lights. The Atkinson Fire and Rescue Unit
services the Atkinson and surrounding area and also responds to mutual
aid in other counties.
Niobrara Fire and Rescue Unit Receives $500 Donation
The Niobrara Fire and Rescue Unit received a $500 donation. These
funds will be used to purchase training equipment and related supplies.
The Niobrara Fire and Rescue Unit is a volunteer department that services
Niobrara and surrounding area.
Two $500 Goodwill Fund Scholarships Awarded in 2000
Two area seniors were selected to receive a $500 scholarship from the Goodwill
Fund. Isaiah Sicheneder, son of Dale & Sherry Sicheneder of Chambers
and Sarah Krysl, daughter of Thomas Krysl of Stuart were selected to receive
this year's scholarships. Isaiah and Sarah were selected from twenty-eight
highly qualified applicants. Congratulations to both students and good
luck with your future pursuits.
March 2000 - Post Prom Funds
The Goodwill Fund Board made its annual $25 donation to the Post Prom Fund of
each high school in the Niobrara Valley Electric service area, including Niobrara
High School.
March 2000 - Niobrara Public Library
The Fund Board approved a $500 donation to the Niobrara Public Library to
update computers. The library has experienced a growing need for computers and
Internet availability. Over 4,000 individuals have used the Library since October
1997.
March 2000 - Niobrara Valley Hospital Corporation
The Niobrara Valley Hospital Corporation was approved for a $500 donation from
the Goodwill Fund. This rural hospital, located in Lynch, serves approximately
1,000 families. The hospital has experienced recent financial difficulty
and has turned to fund raisers to help pull them through this difficult period.
Their goal is to continue to provide quality health care to the rural community
and they have received strong community support in their fund raising efforts.
1999
DONATIONS
September 1999 - O'Neill Big Pal - Little Pal Program
The Fund board approved a $150 matching grant for operational expenses to the
O'Neill Big Pal/Little Pal Program. The program provides mentoring for children
between the ages of 5 and 12 who come from single parent families. The children
are matched with volunteers’ 16 years of age or older. A screening and interview
process are used to match the volunteers strengths with the needs of the child.
Monthly activities can have an attendance as high as 50 people.
June 1999 - Stuart Funds for Fun Group
Parents and teachers formed the Funds for Fun Group to purchase new playground
equipment at the K-12 school district in their community. The school serves
the children in Stuart and from the surrounding rural community. The board
awarded a $250 matching grant to the group.
June 1999 - Butte Health Care Auxiliary Receives $350 Towards Piano
Purchase
The Butte Health Care Auxiliary received a $350 matching funds grant towards
the purchase of a new piano for the residents of the Nursing Home for the
residents and the community to enjoy.
April 1999 - Kelli Drueke Chosen as 1999 Scholarship Recipient
The Goodwill Fund board received 30 applications for the annual $500 college
scholarship. The board was impressed by the quality of all the applicants.
Miss Kelli Drueke, daughter of Tom and Pat Drueke, was chosen to receive
the 1999 scholarship. Miss Drueke attends Spencer-Naper High School and
plans to attend Northeast Community College for an Associate Degree in
Nursing and then the University of Nebraska for her Bachelor Degree in
Nursing. Kelli has already worked two years as a Certified Nurses Assistance
and says "I love the work, the environment, and the fact that I can make
a difference in somebody's life." Congratulations Kelli and good luck with
your nursing career!
April 1999 - Niobrara Public Library Will Receive $500 Donation
The Niobrara Public Library was approved for a $500 donation to update
computers at the library. The library is experiencing a growing need for
computers and internet availability. They service a population of 800 and
over 4,000 individuals have used the library since October 1997.
April 1999 - $100 Donation to Veterans of Foreign Wars
A $100 donation will be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Niobrara.
The donation will be used for relocation efforts and maintenance fees.
Relocation of the Sage Memorial is necessary due to the relocation of Highway
12. The new memorial will be dedicated to Veterans from all branches of
the service. The Veterans of Foreign Wars services the Niobrara, Verdel
and Santee area and they have visitors to the Sage Memorial from all over
the country.
April 1999 - $500 Donation to Chamber Volunteer Fire Department
A $500 donation will be made by the Goodwill Fund to the Chambers Volunteer
Fire Department. The donation will be used toward the purchase a defibrillator
heart monitor for the ambulance service. The Chambers Volunteers have 13
individuals certified to use a defibrillator. They answer approximately
40 calls a year. Carrying the defibrillator on the ambulance will allow
the Chambers Volunteer Fire Department to meet their goal of providing
the best cardiac service possible.
April 1999 - Matching Funds to Atkinson Big Pal/Little Pal Program
The Fund board approved a $150 matching grant for beginning operational
expenses to the Atkinson Big Pal/Little Pal Program. The purpose of this
program is to match responsible adults with boys and girls to provide a
one-to-one relationship. The Big Pals and Little Pals will participate
in social and cultural activities which will (1) develop good social behaviors
and respect for self and others (2) establish wholesome and healthful attitudes
to develop productive and creative members of society and (3) encourage
the boys and girls development to their fullest capacity for living a responsible,
happy and healthy life.
April 1999 - Goodwill Fund Approves Annual Post Prom Donation
The Goodwill Fund Board approved an annual $25 donation to the Post Prom
Fund of each high school in the Niobrara Valley Electric service area,
including Niobrara High School.
1998 DONATIONS
December 1998 - Goodwill Fund Establishes Annual Scholarship
The Goodwill Fund established an annual $500 scholarship available to any
Niobrara Valley Electric member or their immediate family. The scholarship
can be used for any post-secondary instution in the pursuit of any degree
and any age student may apply. The scholarship must be used toward tuition
or books. The deadline for scholarship applications was set for April 10,
1999.
December 1998 - Funding To The Niobrara Museum
The fund donated $900 to the Niobrara Museum. The funds will be used to
purchase a new trophy case.
September 1998 - Funding To The Holt County Historical Society
The fund donated a total of $1,500 to the Holt County Historical Society.
$1,000 will go toward their window fund and $500 for the purchase of a
word processor. The Holt County Historical Society is located in the Kincaid
Building in O'Neill. They have approximately 500 visitors a year and maintain
3,000 - 4,000 family histories on file.
September 1998 - Funding To The Niobrara Historical Society
The fund made a $600 donation to the Niobrara Historical Society for the
purchase of a copy machine. The "Memories of Old Niobrara" Museum had 1,995
registered guests in 1997. These guests came from Hawaii, Belgium, Germany,
Japan, British Columbia, 36 states in the U.S., and 120 towns in Nebraska.
The Niobrara Historical Society provides a wealth of historical information
as well as many fun activities at the museum.
June 1998 - Matching Fund Grant for Holt County 4-H Shooting Sports
Club
The fund gave a $200 matching funds grant to the Holt County 4-H Shooting
Sports club to help with expenses associated with attending the national
shooting competition in Manhattan, Kansas. The clubs Top Gun team placed
3rd and the Sharp Shooters placed 11th in the nation in the BB Gun Competition.
The Top Guns air rifle team placed 5th overall. Last year the club had
125 individuals associated with their activities.
March 1998 - Donations to Area High School Post Prom's
The fund gave a $25 donation to each high school post prom committee inside
the service area of Niobrara Valley Electric.
March 1998 - Matching Funds Grant for Medical Equipment Purchase
The fund gave a $500 matching grant to the Naper Volunteer Fire and Ambulance
towards the purchase of a new $2,000 cot for their ambulance. Over the
past year they have assisted 175 people in the area.
1997
DONATIONS
October 1997 - Matching Funds Grant for JAKES Program Start-up
The Goodwill Fund Board gave a $150 matching funds grant to help start
the Niobrara Valley Chapter of the Jakes Program. The JAKES program is a national program of the National Wild Turkey Federation whose
purpose is "informing, educating and involving America's youth in wildlife
conservation and the stewardship of our natural resources. To date the
local chapter has about 70 members.
September 1997 - Matching Funds Grant to 4-H Marketing Program
In September the board approved a $200 matching funds grant to help promote
the 4-H Bonus Auction. This year there were 55 to 60 4-H'ers involved in
the bonus auction.
June 1997 - Cost Share in a 4-H Community Improvement Project
In June of 1997 the Fund presented a $175 matching grant to the Up &
At It 4-H club for their "Adopt a Building" project. The grant was used
by the club to pay for materials to repair and improve a building at the
Holt county Fairgrounds.
June 1997 - Purchase of Rescue Unit Medical Equipment
The Fund gave a $400 matching grant to the Niobrara Volunteer Rescue Unit
for the purchase of an Oximeter. This device, when attached to a patient,
provides information on how much oxygen the patients' body is receiving.
This information is generally requested by a hospital when the patient
is admitted, and until now the information was not available. This rescue
unit serves approximately 48 families a year.
June 1997 - Promote 4-H Membership DriveThe fund provided a $100 matching grant to the Holt County 4-H to support
a national and local membership drive. A national ad campaign will promote
membership in local 4-H clubs. Local 4-H youth will contact prospect new
members in Holt county after they contact the national hotline. The Holt
county 4-H serves about 400 youth and 100 adults in the county.
April 1997 - Funding Towards Chambers Park Improvement
In April 1997 the Goodwill Fund presented a $500 check to the Chambers
Community Improvement Foundation towards the completion of their park improvement
project. Their immediate goal is to build new restroom facilities in the
park. They have conducted numerous fund raising events including a buy
a brick campaign. Their community improvements efforts are an ongoing project.
April 1997 - Short Term Operating Grant to the Holt County Historical
Society
In April 1997 a $500 check was present to the Holt County Historical Society
by the Goodwill Fund to offset a recent funding loss. The grant will help
the Society on a short term basis until an new long term source of funding
can be found. The Society operates the Kinkaid Bank Building, a National
Historical Site, which is visited by over 500 people each year. The society
also does genealogical work and has almost 3,000 histories of local families
on file. The Society's mission is to preserve and tell the story of the
history of Holt County and its settlement.
January 1997 - Funding Towards the Purchase of a New Ambulance
In January the Niobrara Valley Electric Goodwill Fund presented a $500
check to the Naper Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Service towards the purchase
of their new ambulance. The ambulance they replaced had been purchased
in the early 1970's. The community was able to purchase the new ambulance
after raising over $10,000 due to the efforts of the area residents and
businesses.
January 1997 - Purchase of Medical Equipment
In January a $765 check was presented to the Spencer Rescue unit for the
purchase of an Evac-u-Splint. The splint is used to immobilize accident
victims with spinal injuries. The Spencer rescue unit receives no government
funding and is supported only by donations from the area.

DONATIONS
August 1996 - Funding for Holt County 4-H
In August $155 was donated to the 4-H Auction Committee to help defray the cost
of advertising thanking those that purchased livestock at the Holt County fair.
