Niobrara Valley has 23 employees and 2,680 miles of line. In 2006, the cooperative
had revenues of $8.3 million dollars. Niobrara Valley's customer mix is about
45.5% residential, 36.5% seasonal, 10.2% irrigation, 6.2% commercial, and the
balance sold to public uses. There is an average of 2.11 consumers per mile

Governing Body
Nebraska is a public power state and as such the cooperative is not regulated
by a corporation commission. Rates are cost-of-service based and governed by an
11-member Board of Directors elected at large by the membership. There are five
directors from Boyd County, five from Holt County and one from Knox County. Policies
and rates are determined by the Board.

Capital Credits
Since Niobrara Valley is a non-profit cooperative, any margins made are returned
to the members. Each year the members of the cooperative receive a capital credit
statement showing their share of the margins for that year. Currently, the cooperative
is paying these margins on an approximate twenty-three year cycle as approved
by the Board of Directors. In 2006, a retirement of 18% of capital credits earned
in 1983 and 15% of capital credits earned in 1984 was issued. To date the cooperative
has returned over $5.5 million in margins to its members.
